Stars like Lupita Nyong’o and ÷ were all aglow on the red carpet for the 2014 Oscars toe — even before they won awards! But for those of us who are not hitting the red carpet for the Oscars, celebrity facialist, Ling Chan, owner of LING Skincare NY, shares her tips on how-to achieve flawless, glowing, Oscar-ready skin from the comfort of home in 2 easy steps:
Exfoliate: There are two things you need to remember: Exfoliate and Rehydrate! To achieve an Oscar glow, first you need to create a base. Begin applying an exfoliator as a mask. Exfoliation is key in removing excess dirt, oil and bacteria buildup. I recommend LING’s Spotlight Papaya Resurface Peel, but you can use any exfoliator as long as it contains enzymes! Next, with the enzyme exfoliator on your face, cover with a hot wash cloth and leave on for 3 minutes. The heat is important as the steam helps to activate the enzymes to dissolve the top layers of the skin and open the pores, providing a more effective and deeper exfoliation.
Hydrate: The second part to achieving the Oscar glow is all about hydration, which is what the LING Skincare philosophy is all about! Use a hydrator and/or serum that contains water, not oil. This saturates and locks essential moisture deep into the skin, preparing it for make-up application. LING’s Ginseng Therapy Moisture Mask is great for this, but again any hydrator or serum containing water works just as well.
Ling also recommends the Ginseng Collagen Infusion Mask as another at-home alternative – perfect when you’re on-the-go. Recommended for dry, dehydrated and aging skin, this rejuvenating facial mask is designed to infuse vital nutrients into the skin for immediate benefits. Formulated with Panax Ginseng to revive and tone, Collagen to firm and Hyaluronic Acid to soothe and hydrate. Just peel open and place mask on the facial area for 10 minutes, rinse with warm water and voila! Skin is smooth, supple and ready for its close-up.
