Event Recap: Harlem’s Fashion Row Blogger’s Breakfast 2014

I had the pleasure of attending the Harlem’s Fashion Row (HFR) 2014 Blogger’s Breakfast on September 3, 2014, presented by Pandora and McCafé. Greeted by delicious smells (coming from the open-air on-site kitchen and Chef Jerry Pennant) and a lovely table setting with McCafé candles and a blogger goodie bag to fill up!

We were served McCafé breakfast items and encouraged to network with our fellow attendees. I was able to meet and exchange info with some lovely women bloggers in fashion, beauty and tech.

Breakfast was “Top Chef” caliber with eggs, sausage, and grits escalated to a magnificent culinary level. Add in the breakfast mix roasted potatoes, hash and marvelous mushrooms and the room of normally chatty bloggers was rather quiet— a testament to the culinary chops of Chef Jerry Pennant.

Founder of Harlem’s Fashion Row, Brandice Hernderson-Daniel gave an overview of HFR and her reasons for starting the organization. The purpose is to provide a voice for designers of color an enables them to sell and present their collections for key leaders within the fashion industry.

Janell Snowden of VH1 led the panel discussion with the designers and facilitated the audience discussion. The designers then presented a few pieces of their latest work. We also had the opportunity to meet the winner of this year’s HFR

Perhaps the most anticipated part of the morning was the “bracelet” corner presented by Pandora. The lines were worth the wait! We were able to fashion a bracelet according to qualities and convictions as opposed to life events as is common in the original Pandora bracelet collections.

McCafé gave us lovely mementos of the occasion– red diaries (that felt like they were leather bound) and a candle with the faint scent of a coffee drink!
