I recently became Director of Glamour at Mahogany Butterfly and I’m get to work with some awesome makeup artists and writers. My friend Nalo Jones wrote a piece about Ciara’s pretty look at the Grammy’s and I thought I would share it here:
Ciara’s makeup for the 52nd Annual Grammy Awards was clean, fresh, and flirty. Her red (hot) carpet look was created by Celebrity Makeup Artist Yolande Frederick. Simplicity is the key to her perfectly polished beauty.
Follow these 5 simple steps to get Ciara’s fresh look:
1. Prep with Primer: Frederick prepped the face with shu uemura’s new UV Under Base Fluid in Medium Beige.
2. Apply foundation: Frederick followed up with shu uemura’s Nobara Cream Cover Stick foundation in 524 for a flawless golden finish.
3. Apply Blush: For cheeks, Frederick used shu uemura’s Glow On blush in M Amber 89 and highlighted with Lancôme’s Model Mocha Cream Shimmer for more drama!
4. Perfect your pout: For a perfect lip, Frederick ever-so-lightly lined Ciara’s lips with shu uemura’s Drawing Lip Pencil in Brown 710 then topped it off with shu uemura’s creamy nude Rouge Unlimited lipstick in BG 940M. Frederick highlighted the center of the lip with shu uemura’s Gloss Unlimited in BG 980N for extra pop!
If you don’t have the colors from Shu Uemura, you can follow the steps and substitute your colors from your own makeup wardrobe! Get clean, fresh and flirty like Ciara!
