CeleBeauty Watch: The Original Big-Haired Diva Diana Ross Turns 69 Today

I grew up singing into a hairbrush, cooking spoon and other assorted implements, into which I could pretend I was Diana Ross singing “Stop In The Name Of Love” while making large sweeping background singer gestures and watching myself in the mirror.  I found my mother’s stacking pastel Avon bullet cream eyeshadows, and liberally applied them to my eyes, lips and cheeks in an effort to look Supreme-ish.

Watching the three glamourous women known jointly as The Supremes was such an uplifting experience as a young Black girl.   I was glued to the television whenever Diana Ross, Mary Wilson and Florence Ballard fluidly and harmoniously sang “Baby, baby, where did our love go?”  When the divalicious Diana Ross left The Supremes to pursue her solo career, I was sad, but I could never stop following this iconic beauty and fashionista who still continues to inspire.  Last year, Ross received a Lifetime Achievement award at the Grammys (2012), which is most appropriate for the woman who has achieved so much during her career.  Here is a complete listing of her accomplishments.
