Bye Bye Max Factor Makeup

If you love anything Max Factor, the granddaddy of makeup, you better stock up.  Apparently the line is not going to be sold any longer in the US  at the beginning of of next year.  The good news is that Max’s great-grandsons Dean and Davis have taken the makeup world by storm with their professional makeup line, Smashbox BTW –love the new high def foundation by Smashbox.

According to The Cut  (my favorite source of beauty and fashion gossip):

Bid Farewell to Max Factor

20090605_maxfactor_250x375You won’t be able to find Max Factor at the drug store after this year. Procter & Gamble Co. announced it will discontinue distribution of the century-old brand in the United States in early 2010, due to small sales in an oversaturated American beauty market. Instead, P&G will turn its attention to building up Cover Girl domestically while continuing to sell Max Factor abroad, where it is reportedly a top-selling brand in twenty countries including big markets like Russia and the United Kingdom. Truly, we’ll miss seeing the products in drug stores like Duane Reade and Wal-Mart — they always had the brightest eye shadows for $3.99 — not that we used it, anyway.

I am just a faithful customer for the past 28 years. I have used Max Factor Whipped Cream and am very sad to find out I cannot get it. It is the best base I have ever used that did not make my skin break out. I am truly sorry to see it go.

      Hi Debbie,
I’m sure you may be able to find the Max Factor Whipped Cream on ebay or even order from a source in Europe. I guess there are so many competitors now, it’s just not making the $$ for Max Factor now. Too bad. Its a great product line.
      thanks for visiting my blog!

I have been using Max Factor panstick for 49 years. I have never used another makeup. I am very upset that it will no longer be sold in the United States after the first of the year. Could you tell me if I buy up tubes of panstick, will it still be good in a few years? This will be like the loss of a relative because I have tried other things but never have liked any of them. I love my Max Factor makeup and will be very sorry to see it go. Would it be possible to purchase on line after the first of the year?
Thank you for all the good years.

      Hi Norma,
First of all, thanks for reading my blog! I’m not a Max Factor representative, but I do know that generally makeup has a shelf life of about 3 years. Particularly if is is unused and unopened. So I think that if you buy up a few, you should be good. I’m sure you will be able to find it on Ebay and on some international websites. I would check the Max Factor site at the beginning of the year for more exact information.

I'd love to hear your thoughts!
