Budget Beauty Tuesday: Tinted Moisturizers — Be a Mixologist

Yesterday I expressed my love of tinted moisturizers. And a reader a couple comments came up about do-it-yourself tinted moisturizers and less expensive versions.  Both of which I planned to address today on my Budget Beauty Tuesday post.

How do you make your own tinted moisturizer? Sooo easy.  I used to do it all the time before laziness and pre-made versions cropped up.

mixing-makeupMix 2/3 the amount of moisturizer you would normally use with 1/3 the amount of foundation or liquid bronzer you normally use and voilá– tinted moisturizer.  How simple is that?  Now take that a step farther and mix a tad bit of liquid highlighter in and you have an illuminating tinted moisturizer.  If you prefer more coverage, use less moisturizer and more foundation or bronzer. Pretty basic; you just use what you have on hand, and don’t have to buy more products.

I have a hard time making a recommendation for a budget tinted moisturizer because most of them are so darn light.  I did a little searching and found Kiss My Face Tinted Moisturizer for $9.99, which is think is a great price for a quality product line.  And the color choices seem to be pretty decent.  Check out the claim:

Kiss My Face mineral based tints provide sheer coverage that’s natural, not from artificial dyes. Enriched with Ester-C our Tinted Moisturizers smooth out skin tones with oil-free, fragrance-free, sheer color while protecting against UVA/UVB rays with SPF 8. Available in six skin tones, Beach, Branch, Clay, Manila, Rattan and Sisal with an improved formula that is more sheer and blendable to provide an even better match to any skin tone.

I’m going to order it and let you know how it works for me.
