Blinging Beauty Top 10’s of 2010: Best Eye Creams

Eye cream is a close contender to my number one skin care necessity—exfoliators.  I have them stashed everywhere—purse, bedroom, bathroom, travel bag—and use them religiously.  And if you are a year over 20, you should be using one too.

There is an eye cream for any and every eye issue you may have— fine lines, deep lines, puffiness, dehydration, dark circles, allergies, loss of elasticity… I can go on—and they come in a variety of price points.

I road tested more than a few this year and went back to some of my tried-and-true favorites as well.

Top 10 Eye Creams for 2010

1.  Best Hydrating Eye Cream

DERMAdoctor Wrinkle Revenge (rescue and protect eye balm) $48

I LOVE this eye cream.  It hydrates, calms inflammation and reduces dark circles.

2.  Best Brightening Eye Cream

Vichy LiftActiv Retinol HA Eyes Total Anti-Wrinkle Renovating Care $39.50

Besides retinol, this cream has a nifty applicator which massages the product right into your skin. I’m kind of a nerd for nifty…

3. Best Exfoliating Eye Gel

Ole Henriksen Truth is in the Eyes $65

Technically this is not really an eye cream, it’s a treatment,  but so ingenious that I had to include it.  Yes, I said exfoliating.  This genius man—Ole—actually formulated a product with AHA’s that is gentle enough to exfoliate the eye area. Fits right in with my obsession. <3

4. Best Eye Cream (gel) for Tired Eyes (and puffiness)

Vichy Aqualia Thermal Eye Roll-On $26.50

This intensely hydrating roller ball eye gel feels so good going on that you don’t even care if it works or not, but it does.  Keep it in your purse—it’s ideal for “cubicle” eyes.  You know, when you have been staring at the computer screen for hours.

5.  Best Eye Cream for Fine Lines

Lierac Diopti Creme Anti-Wrinkle $34

An old favorite of mine, I started using Diopti Creme about 10 years ago and it is still one of my favorites.  A synergistic blend of botanicals make it a power player in the eye cream arena.

6.  Best Multi-Tasking Eye Cream

Skyn Iceland Icelandic Relief Eye Cream with Biospheric Complex $45

One of my absolute favorite eye creams because it does it all and it feels so darn good while it’s doing it.  For puffiness, dark circles, lines and wrinkles.  It even contains light-diffusing cotton powder that helps fill fine lines and wrinkles and doubles as a great under-makeup primer.

7.  Best Budget Eye Cream

Neutrogena Healthy Skin Eye Cream $12.99

Vitamins and  AHA’s at a great price.

8.  Best Organic Eye Cream

Avalon Organics Essential Eye Lift $25.95

This is the latest of the eye creams that I’m testing and so far so good.  I don’t know if it’s because it says it’s lifting, but I swear I feel like my eyes are lifted and firmer within a few minutes of applying this cream.

9.  Best Eye Cream From an MD Without a Prescription

Perricone MD High Potency Eye Lift $95

I was first introduced to this potent eye treatment when Dr. Perricone launched at Sephora and I’m still a fan.  Contains good stuff like phosophilipids and DMAE.  Eyes are truly lifted.  It’s pricey but worth it.

10.  Best Eye Detox and De-puffer

First Aid Detox Eye Roller $24

Another roller ball, but totally different.  This one just wakes your eyes up and the metal roller ball deposits peptides and gently distributes lymphatic build-up from underneath the eye.
