Beauty News: October 15th is Davines Sustainable Beauty Day

Davines and The Fruit Tree Planting Foundation are proud to present the second annual Sustainable Beauty Day on Monday, October 15th. Participating salons will open their doors to offer clients cut and styling services free of charge. Each client will be encouraged to make a $15 minimum donation for the service, and 100% of the proceeds will go to The Fruit Tree Planting Foundation.

Davines’ commitment to sustainability spans from the ethically sourced natural ingredients used to create their products to their product packaging and commitment to education. Sustainable Beauty Day encourages Davines’ partner salons in the US and Canada – and their consumers – to support the worldwide efforts to plant trees at schools and communities with low-income families, ultimately providing improved nutrition and long-term environmental benefits.

Last year’s Sustainable Beauty Day raised over $25,000 thanks to the participation of 54 salons in the US and Canada, and helped plant 6,000 fruit trees in Mozambique’s impoverished communities and at an orphanage in South Africa.

This year Sustainable Beauty Day 2012 aims to raise over $50,000 to fund a fruit tree planting project in Brazil in February 2013. The Foundation’s partnering NGO’s and civil groups in Brazil will lead an organized effort to plant and harvest the trees, ensuring that this will serve as a direct food source for in-need communities.
