Mary J. Blige is no stranger to setting records. With the release of My Life Blossom, the follow-up to her first scent My Life, the Queen of Hip Hop Soul is poised to "deliver the mail" yet again.
While the award-winning musician and entrepreneur moved 72,000 units of her debut scent, setting a HSN record back in July 2010, industry sources are estimating the new addition will enter buck territory. That is, in my Brook Lynn (Blige's rapping alter ego) voice, "Five million first year of my sales!"
According to WWD.com, My Life Blossom is "described as an evolution of the original scent. It is a creamy floral which opens with gardenia petals, mandarin, white freesia and orange flower; has a heart of tuberose, blooming jasmine and marigold, and a drydown of sandalwood, cashmere and vanilla. It will retail for $55 for 1.7 oz.."
One dollar from each sale of My Life Blossom will be donated to Mary J. Blige's Foundation for the Advancement of Women Now (FFAWN) charity founded in collaboration with Steve Stoute. FFAWN aims to "inspire women from all walks of life to gain the confidence and skills they need to reach their individual potential through scholarships, grants and programs."
