Today, IMAN Cosmetics is proud to announce they are the official cosmetics sponsor for the much anticipated multi-racial production of A Streetcar Named Desire, taking over the Broadhurst Theatre for a limited run beginning on Sunday, April 22 through July 22, 2012. The cast includes two-time Golden Globe nominee, Blair Underwood as “Stanley,” Nicole Ari Parker as “Blanche,” Tony Nominee Daphne Rubin-Vega as “Stella” and the role of “Mitch” will be played by Wood Harris.
Tennessee Williams’ sultry drama is set against the sexy backdrop of New Orleans' gritty French Quarter. A Streetcar Named Desire tells the tale of former school teacher and socialite Blanche DuBois (Nicole Ari Parker), as she's forced to move in with her sister Stella (Daphne Rubin-Vega) and her animalistic husband Stanley (Blair Underwood). But the fragile Blanche quickly gets a gritty life lesson in the seamy, steamy underbelly of 1950's New Orleans. The legendary Terence Blanchard has signed on to provide an original soundscape for the production.
Collaborating with the show’s makeup artist director, Valente Frazier will be leading the talented team from IMAN Cosmetics, to create the ultimate transformation and bring the characters to life on stage.
“On behalf of the IMAN Cosmetics brand, we are extremely proud to be the exclusive makeup sponsor for this exciting multi-racial production of a classic American story from the iconic Tennessee Williams,” said Desiree Reid, Senior VP Brand Development, IMAN Cosmetics. “As the leader in the cosmetics arena for women with skin of color, it only made sense for our brand to partner with the show to highlight the beauty of diversity and the power of makeup artistry.”
