Bad Beauty Habits: Myss Glam Pledges to Prep Her Hair For Bed

Although I like to dole out beauty advice, I must admit I have a few bad beauty habits of my own.  It’s shameful, I know, but nobody’s perfect! Besides not removing my make-up sometimes after a long night, I'm also a frequent offender of forgetting to prep my hair before bed.

If I’m really tired after a busy day, and one of my many silk bonnets or hair wraps isn't within arms reach – it's a "wrap!"  My hair is left free to fend for itself, and I have to deal with the consequences in the morning. Now, if I miss prepping my hair once or twice in a two week period, it’s usually not a deal breaker.  But if I go several nights without protecting my tresses, that’s when it can become a real problem.

Pretty AnntoiNet's Pink Wrap Up, $18.00

A wide strip of beautiful Dupion Silk, with a hook & loop fastener. Wear it like a headband during the day or to bed at night. It will help keep your edges neat and leave no lines of demarcation. Dupion is a lustrous silk, with a slightly peppled texture and a moderately crisp, feel that will soften when washed.

This sexy, 100% silk hair wrap helps to conceal moisture and eliminate drying friction which contributes to breakage. It also helps to preserve the hairstyle and keeps strands in place, preventing flyaways from crawling all around my neck and face at night. And trust me, I’ve been awakened from many a deep slumber and forced out of bed to find one of my wraps or bonnets due to annoying stray hairs! But that bad beauty habit is now a thing of the past. For 2012, no matter how tired I may be, I resolve to take that extra little effort to prep my hair before bed EVERY night. Wish me luck!

My hair goes in a bun every night before bed even if it’s wet from a late shampooing. I’m a hairdresser for over 30 years and I never even thought about preping my hair before bedtime. Maybe I should look into it to make sure I’m not damaging it.

The only thing I do to my hair is tie it up. I don’t moisturize and seal it every night, although I should. I almost only do that on the weekends when I have time. Great post

This sounds like me somewhat. I don’t wear much makeup beside eye makeup but sometimes I do get careless and fall asleep in it. I sometimes do the same thing with my hair, I fall asleep without my satin scarf or bonnet and we ALL know that’s not good

I'd love to hear your thoughts!
