Ask Tracey: I'm 40 and Need Foundation
I recently received this question: I am about to turn 40 in a few months and need some pointers. Your article speaks of 20’s with normal skin but not 40. Can you give me some advice on what type of foundation to use for my skin. Oh yes did I mention that I live in AZ where the temp tops 110 – 119 during the summer months and my girls run track so I am outside for long periods of times 9 months out of the 12 months in a year. Also something for occasional puffy eyes from not getting enough sleep. IF there is an article that you can point me too that would be helpful I will read it. I love the articles you post!! R.R. Thanks for reading my blog. Have no fear about turning 40. I think my forties were my best years to date. (But I haven’t finished the fifties yet. ; ) When I take a look at celeb women who have turned 40, they look even better than they did in previous years. Janet Jackson, Halle Berry and Naomi Campbell just to name a few have aged beautifully. Before you even apply your foundation I want you to have great protection from the sun, so use a double duty moisturizer that contains an SPF. Try: Murad Anti-Aging Moisturizer SPF 20 PA++$48 Vichy Aqualia Thermal 24Hr Hydrating Fortifying Lotion SPF 30 $29.95 Avalon Organics Vitamin C Moisture Plus Lotion with SPF 15 $17.99 Face Moisturizers by Murad Face Care by Vichy For foundation—since you are turning 40 and you are outside in hot weather, this is what we are looking for: Anti-aging Water resistant SPF of at least 15 Brands I have used and love: Smashbox High Definition Healthy FX Foundation SPF 15 $38 (I wear M4) L’Oreal True Match Makeup SPF 17 — Liquid $10.95 (I wear N6) Make Up For Ever Face & Body Liquid Makeup $38 (I wear Camel 18) Liquid Foundation by Smashbox Face Makeup by L’Oreal And I have my picks in eye cream for puffy eyes. And read my tips for how to combat puffy eyes here. And as a last tip, I suggest that you exfoliate at least twice per week. These are my favorite scrubs. Let me know what you choose and how it works!
