Ashanti’s old Hollywood glamorous style was stunning at the NAACP Theater Awards yesterday. Thank you Ashanti for showing taste, class and for wearing red lipstick! I’m a little done with the nude lip for every single red carpet occasion. Her Veronica Lake inspired hair and fresh matte makeup was too beautiful. If there is ever an occasion to vamp it up, it’s the red carpet, and Ashanti ROCKED it!

Since my creative juices seemed to have dried up today, I think it’s perfectly appropriate that I do a mash up of my personal Fierce Friday Favorites. And here they are in no particular order…
1. Get Banged

Naomi Campbell
Get your mind out of the gutter. I’m talking hair. I’m talking about rocking ferocious bangs. It’s Friday so change it up. Get fierce. Rock some bangs. While I’m not one to follow trends (I pride myself on doing my own chic thing) I happen to love bangs. As a matter of fact, I have worn various versions of bangs over the years, with my favorite being blunt cut bangs that graze the eyebrows. Now that’s hot. (Say it with a little Paris Hilton in your voice) But, being in that phase of my life when personal summers may attack at any given moment, my bangs most often give way to a fringe of frizz. Not cute.
2. Go Nude

Eva Marcille
Want all eyes on you? Go nude. Eva does it. Beyonce’ does it. Rihanna does it. Monica Lewinsky made it hot! I’m talking nude lips. Shiny, glossy nude lips will have all eyes on your tonight.
I kicked and screamed when the nude lip came into fashion. I hated it. Particularly for women who had small lips, the nude lip just made them look like they had all face — no lips. Not at all pretty. Plus most of the original nude lip colors were matte, and they were way too beige and just plain ugly.
When makeup artist Denise Markey gave Monica Lewinsky those shimmery nude lips, Club Monaco lip gloss sales skyrocketed. Women from 8 to 80 were trying to get those hot lips. Or maybe they were fantasizing about Bill…
3. Be a Top Heavy Girl

Jennifer Hudson
I think every woman yearns for that perfect chest, but I’m not talking DDD’s here, I’m talking about makeup. Specifically, eye makeup that puts all the emphasis on the top of the eye. I haven’t heard this term in years, so I thought I’d bring it back. With eyes in focus, your face is lifted immensely and you look just sexy cool.
To achieve this look, you have to say goodbye to lining under your eyes, and opt for lots of liner and lots of lash on top only. Brows are also important for looking “top heavy”. Proper under eye concealing is also a necessity — consider it your lift, your underwire!
It’s Friday! Get Fierce!

I love fall. Fashion is spanking new and so is makeup. With that being said, there are a gazillion beauty goodies out now that I really, really want. As a matter of fact, I need them. It’s hard to nail down, so no doubt there will be an updated lust list next week, but in the meantime, my must-haves for makeup, skin care and hair care are below.
1. Makeup
Everyone knows I’m a NARS freak, and with good reason. His colors are always on point. I don’t wear much eyeshadow, but I think I will be rocking this plum, after all it’s the color of the season.

One of my blog readers recently asked a question on the Ask Tracey section of Blinging Beauty. Here is her question:
From Tanya Q.
How does one determine what shape eyebrow is better suited for their face. For instance I have a round face. Should they be thick, thin, squared, arched. I don’t know.
Well, Tanya, that is a great question. I am an eyebrow fanatic. I only trust my eyebrow shaping to Alresa at Cloud Nine. And I really hate bad eyebrows. Recently I told a woman she had “sperm eyebrows”. That was pretty rude. But the fact was that she had a fat piece in the front and then a line drawn on. They looked really bad. But, I showed her how to shape them and she was quite pleased.
First of all, for face shapes, this is the guiding information for eyebrow shape:
The younger you are, the fuller the eyebrow you can get away with. As we age we need less brow with more height. Madonna is a classic example of change her brows with her age. In 1987 she sported a thick bush brow, but it worked for her. Today, at 50+, we wouldn’t catch Madonna with such a brow. Not only are her brows thinner, but they are also lighter, which is another factor for brow color as we age.

It takes some doing for me to be impressed by eye shadow. Every so often there will a new color that blows my socks off, or a new formula that is amazing. But finding amazing eyeshadow in a completely utilitarian kit is a win-win. I am most definitely a fan of palettes, I believe you get the biggest bang for your buck with a palettes that incorporates usable, wearable colors — but more often than not, you may get a few colors that are just splendid in your eyeshadow palette and the rest are throwaways.
That is why I am in LOVE with my new Too Faced Natural Eye Kit. The colors are seemingly basic — nudes, tans, bronzes, browns in matte and shimmer — but they work so well as everything from base color to brow color to crease color to eyeliner. I have done gorgeous bridal makeup, hot smokey eyes and professional day looks with this kit. It has become my go-to kit of the moment and I think I may have to get another one soon because I’m using the heck out of this one.

Not so long ago I professed my infatuation with Peter Lamas Soy Hydrating Shampoo and Conditioner. And while I was given a couple bottles to review, I decided that I had to share the love. I mean, this shampoo and conditioner is too good to not tell the world about.
In my review, I used the shampoo in all kinds of hairy situations — on my weave hair, on my post-weave hair (über scary) and after my color service. In all three instances, my hair was soft and lovely. Not such an easy feat for my frizzy mop.
So, I am offering these two lovely products for my blog readers. But there is what you have to do:
1. Leave a comment stating why you need or want the Peter Lamas Hydrating Shampoo and Conditioner.
2. Sign into mymy blog with Google or follow on Facebook.
3. Follow me on Twitter and retweet this post.
3. You must live in the continental United States.
One winner will be randomly chosen on August 8 to receive a Peter Lamas Soy Hydrating Shampoo and Conditioner.
That’s pretty easy isn’t it? Log in and leave a comment!

It’s baack! Fierce Friday is back with a fierceness. Corny I know, but I have been on such an extended bout of laziness, that it’s time to get back with the writing program.
So what’s “Summer Smoke”? It’s an attitude. But more than that, it’s a makeup trend that we just don’t seem to tire of. Smoky eye makeup is sexy and fun and now it seems appropriate for every season. I used to think of dark smoky eyes as a fall/winter “look”, but now women are rocking smoldering smoky eyes year round. Just check out Keri Hilson at the premier of “Takers” on August 4 in Hollywood.
The best part is that you don’t have to spend a fortune. Check out these makeup picks that you can get at your local drugstore for smokin’ hot eyes like Keri. These drugstore brands are ones that I have personally put to the test and they are worth the investment.

I love palettes, and NARS has launched their fall palettes. I’m sooo excited. I think that everyone knows that I owe the name of my blog to NARS. If not, you need to read this…
Needless to say, these two NARS palettes are on my lust list…
I recently whacked all my hair off. I don’t know if it was post mid-life crisis, my ADD or a combination of both, but I made the cut. And it’s pretty cute. Kind of Halle Berry-ish, but medium brown with blond highlights.
Now, since I am having hot flashes on a regular basis, my hair doesn’t hold it’s flat iron too well, but that’s fine by me. I like my mixed curly/wavy textured hair. But it’s the frizz thatI can’t stand.

Aubrey Organics Hair Smoothing Serum
So, I finally tried out Aubrey Organics NuStyle Organic Hair-Smoothing Serum, and it’s just perfect for smoothing my frizzies, without being heavy or unnecessarily coating my hair. I love it. I can go “natural” without looking like I stuck my hair in an electrical socket. And the best part is that my hair FEELS good.
