Saturday Skin Care Humor: Grits Are For Breakfast, Not Exfoliating—Repost

One of my bff's called me the other day in skin care crisis. Apparently her skin needed exfoliating but she was out of facial scrub. So, being the enterprising woman that she it, she proceeded to make her own exfoliant.  I guess she knew that you need an ingredient that's slightly abrasive to do the job.

Commonly used ingredients in scrubs are sugar, various seeds that are finely ground or powdered, as well as jojoba and synthetic beads. Well, my friend from years ago, chose grits. Yep. Grits. The ones that Paula Dean likes. The ones that you eat in the morning with your eggs. Or in the evening with your shrimp.

I laughed my very loud obnoxious laugh when she told me this, even though her skin was in big-time trouble. So I had to hook a girlfriend up with the proper types of scrubs. And I told her that in the meantime, if she felt the need to do home-grown scrubs, try sugar and honey. Or, take the grits and grind them down in a coffee mill. Like you do when you grind spices for cooking.

The bad news is that her skin is still flaking and she has some small tears in her skin. So anyway, I have some scrubs that I love, I talk about them all the time because I'm obsessed with scrubbing. Click here to see my favorite exfoliators.
